A Very Attractive Late Koto To Early Shinto Period Wakazashi With All Its Original Shinto Edo Period Koshirae. Untouched For 150 Years Since Its Gifted Presentation in Japan 1870

Around 440 years old. A most powerful and substantial blade, with considerable presence, and mounted with a two part copper habaki blade collar, and it is bearing a beautiful hamon with deep suguha hamon. The iron fuchi kashira are Higo school decorated with sporadic droplets of silver. the tsukaiti od lacquered leather over a single menuki of pure gold onlaid shakudo flower stems, on early samegawa giant rayskin. The iron mokko gata tsuba is signed and decorated with mountain and river scene with a villlage in the forground.

The original urushi lacquer saya is in a bright and matt in contrasting design, with two small inserted rectangular wood panels of black urushi decorated with gold lacquer maki-e of buddhist bonji, and it is mounted with iron fittings, with a buffalo horn kurigata.

The Edo period original lacquer work saya has some small and medium natural age edge marks and losses
